How To Optimize Your Enshrouded Server Performance

Dealing with lag on your Enshrouded server? If you keep spotting warnings like "High Server Load" or "Server Overloaded" while playing, rest assured that your hardware is likely fine. The game itself is still in development, and the official software occasionally struggles with optimization. Thankfully, the developers push out performance updates regularly!

In the meantime, there are several powerful tweaks we can make to your MintServers panel to drastically reduce latency and keep your world running smoothly.

1. Enable Daily Restarts

Over time, Enshrouded servers eat up a lot of active memory. The absolute best way to keep your server feeling fresh is to schedule an automatic daily restart. This safely clears the server's cache and prevents gradual slowdowns. For highly active communities, you might even want to set this to restart every 12 hours!

2. Group Up Your Players

Enshrouded has to work much harder when players are scattered across the map, as it forces the server to load and process multiple regions simultaneously. Exploring dense areas (like the Hollow Halls) can also strain the system. Encouraging your community to stick together during massive dungeon runs or exploration trips will save a massive amount of server resources.

3. Monitor CPU Usage

Keep an eye on your MintServers dashboard. If your CPU usage is consistently hovering at or above 80%, your server is working overtime. When this happens, a quick manual restart usually clears the bottleneck. If the high usage persists despite optimizations, you may want to consider upgrading your plan to accommodate your growing player base.

4. Lower the Enemy Spawn Rate

Fewer enemies means less work for your server to process! You can easily dial back the spawn rates by tweaking your configuration file.

  1. Head to your MintServers panel and click Stop to take the server offline.
  2. Click on the Files tab to open the File Manager.
  3. Navigate through your folders to find the server settings:
๐Ÿ“ server (main server directory)
๐Ÿ“„ enshrouded_server.json (Click to edit this file)
  1. Make sure your "gameSettingsPreset" is changed to "Custom".
  2. Scroll down to the "gameSettings" section, find "randomSpawnerAmount", and change the value to "Few".
๐Ÿ“„ enshrouded_server.json
"gameSettingsPreset": "Custom",
"gameSettings": {
  "randomSpawnerAmount": "Few"
}
  1. Hit Save Content and then Start your server back up!
โš ๏ธ A Note on Hardware Limits:
Because Enshrouded is still being heavily optimized by the developers, even the most powerful hardware will eventually hit a limit. Massive player builds and high player counts will naturally cause slowdowns over time regardless of settings.
