How To Become An Admin On Your Enshrouded Server

Keeping your realm safe and managing your players is a breeze thanks to Enshrouded's 3-tier role system. Instead of a single password for everyone, the game separates players into three groups: Admin, Friend, and Guest.

To get administrative powers—like the ability to kick or ban rule-breakers—you simply need to set up the Admin group and log in using its specific password. Let us get your permissions set up so you can take full control of your server!

Important Warning: Always make sure your server is completely stopped on your MintServers panel before making changes to your settings or configuration files to prevent them from being overwritten!

Step 1: Set Your Admin Password

Because of the 3-tier system, the password you type when joining the server dictates what permissions you get. We need to define what the Admin password is.

  1. Log into your MintServers panel and click the Stop button to shut down your server.
  2. On the left-hand sidebar, navigate to the Game Settings tab.
  3. Scroll down until you locate the Admin Password text box.
  4. Type in a secure password that is completely different from your Friend or Guest passwords.
  5. The panel will automatically save your changes as soon as you click outside the box!
  6. Return to the Console tab and click Start.

Alternative Method: If you prefer editing files manually, you can navigate to your Files tab, open the enshrouded_server.json file, locate the "userGroups" section, and type your password inside the quotation marks next to the Admin block.

Step 2: Authenticating In-Game

Now that your server has an Admin password, logging in with your new privileges is incredibly simple.

  1. Launch Enshrouded on your computer.
  2. Click on Play, select your character, and choose Join to open the server browser.
  3. Search for your server name in the list and click on it.
  4. When the password prompt appears, type in the Admin Password you created in Step 1 (do not use the Friend or Guest password!).
  5. Click Join. You will load into the server with full administrative access!

Step 3: Using Admin Commands

Once you are authenticated as an Admin, you can manage your players directly through the in-game chat. You do not need to open any special developer consoles.

  1. Press the Enter key on your keyboard to open the text chat window.
  2. Type a forward slash / followed by the command you want to use.
  3. Press Enter again to execute it!

Here are the essential commands you now have access to:

  • /kick [PlayerName] - Immediately removes a player from the server. They can rejoin later if they still have the password.
  • /ban [PlayerName] - Permanently bans the player from the server. They will not be able to rejoin even with the correct password.
  • /unban [PlayerName] - Removes a player from the ban list so they can connect again.

If you have entered your Admin password but the commands still are not working, double-check your Game Settings to ensure you didn't accidentally leave a blank space at the end of the password. If you are still having trouble getting your admin permissions to work, no worries! Just open a support ticket and our team will gladly jump in and fix that together.
