Why Is My Minecraft Server Showing as Offline?

If your server shows offline but you believe it should be online, here are the most common reasons:

  • Server is still starting up โ€” wait 1-2 minutes and check again
  • Wrong IP or port entered โ€” double check the address; Java default port is 25565, Bedrock is 19132
  • Wrong edition selected โ€” make sure you selected Java or Bedrock correctly above
  • Server crashed โ€” log into your game panel and check the console for errors
  • Firewall blocking connections โ€” your hosting provider may have firewall rules blocking the status ping
  • Mojang authentication is down โ€” check Mojang's server status page if many servers appear offline at once

Java vs Bedrock Server Status

This checker supports both Minecraft editions. Java Edition servers run on port 25565 by default and support mods, plugins, and custom server software like Paper and Forge. Bedrock Edition servers run on port 19132 by default and support cross-platform play across mobile, console, and Windows. Make sure you select the correct edition โ€” a Java server will show offline if you check it as Bedrock and vice versa.

What Information Does the Checker Show?

  • Online/Offline status โ€” whether the server is currently reachable
  • Player count โ€” current online players vs maximum slots
  • Server version โ€” the Minecraft version the server runs on
  • MOTD โ€” the Message of the Day set by the server administrator
  • Server software โ€” Paper, Spigot, Forge, Fabric etc. (Java only)
  • Player list โ€” visible player names if the server exposes them

What Does MOTD Mean?

MOTD stands for Message of the Day. It is the text that appears below your server name in the Minecraft multiplayer server list. Server owners use it to display server rules, current events, player counts, or welcome messages. It supports color codes and basic formatting.

How to Use This Minecraft Server Status Checker

Enter your server's IP address or domain name in the field above and select Java or Bedrock edition. Click Check Server Status to instantly see whether your server is online, how many players are connected, the server version, and the MOTD. For Bedrock servers, the default port is 19132 โ€” you don't need to enter it manually.
