Whether you started your journey solo or hosted a co-op session on your own computer, moving your Enshrouded world to a dedicated server is a fantastic idea. It allows your friends to log in, build, and explore even when you are offline!
Transferring your save requires a very specific renaming process, but do not worry. Let us walk through it step-by-step so your hard-earned base transfers perfectly.
Always make sure your server is completely stopped on your MintServers panel before transferring save files to prevent any data corruption!
Step 1: Locate Your Local Save Files
First, we need to grab the world files from your personal computer. Enshrouded saves your world in one of two places depending on if you use Steam Cloud saves or local saves.
If you use Steam Cloud Saves, open your File Explorer and navigate to:
If you use Local Saves, navigate to:
Keep this folder open, as you will need the files inside very shortly!
Step 2: Generate Server Save Files
Dedicated servers use a very specific naming format for their saves. Before we upload your world, we need to let the server generate a dummy world so we know exactly what to name your files.
- Log into your MintServers panel and navigate to the Console tab.
- Click Start and wait about two minutes for the server to fully boot up and create a new world.
- Click Stop and wait for the server to completely shut down.
- Navigate to the Files tab on the left-hand sidebar.
- Locate and open the
savegamefolder. - Take note of the exact names of the files inside this folder. They usually look like a random string of characters, such as
3ad85aeaand3ad85aea_info(or-indexdepending on your game version).
Step 3: Rename Your Local Files
To ensure compatibility, you must rename your personal save files to perfectly match the random string generated by your server.
- Go back to the folder on your computer that you opened in Step 1.
- Locate your specific world save files. (Hint: Look for the files with the largest file size or the most recent "Date Modified" if you have multiple worlds.)
- Rename your local world save file to exactly match the server's main file (e.g., rename it to
3ad85aea). - Rename your local info/index file to exactly match the server's info file (e.g., rename it to
3ad85aea_info).
Step 4: Upload the Save Files
- Go back to your MintServers panel where the
savegamefolder is open. - Delete the dummy save files that the server generated in Step 2.
- Click the Upload button at the top and select your newly renamed local save files from your computer.
- Once the upload is 100% complete, head back to your Console and click Start.
The server will now read your uploaded world files, and your base will be ready and waiting for you and your friends!
๐ ๏ธ Troubleshooting Save Transfers
The server generated a brand new world again: This usually happens if there is a typo in the file name, or if you accidentally added a file extension like .txt when renaming. Ensure the names match the dummy files character-for-character!
No worries if your world is still refusing to load properly! Just open a support ticket and I (Jben) or our team will gladly jump in and instruct you on how to resolve the configuration together.
