How To Upload Your RimWorld Together Save

If you've been hosting a RimWorld Together session on your own computer and want to move it to a dedicated 24/7 server, you are in the right place! Transferring your existing multiplayer world to your MintServers host is a great way to ensure your colony stays active and synchronized even when you aren't online.

Let us get your hard-earned progress moved over so your friends can keep surviving the Rim!

Important Warning: Always make sure your server is completely stopped on your MintServers panel before transferring save files to prevent any data corruption!

Step 1: Locate Your Local Save Files

First, we need to grab the world files from your personal computer. Local saves for RimWorld Together are stored deep inside your Windows AppData folder.

  1. Press the Windows Key + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog.
  2. Paste the following path exactly as it is written and press Enter:
    %appdata%\..\LocalLow\Ludeon Studios\RimWorld by Ludeon Studios\Saves
(Note: Depending on your exact version, your saves might also be located inside a rimworld-together/Saves folder in that same LocalLow directory.)
  3. Look for the folder that contains your multiplayer world save.
  4. Right-click that specific save folder and select Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder. This creates a .zip file of your world, making it much easier to upload!

Step 2: Upload Your Save to the Server

Now that your save is packed up safely, we need to move it into the correct spot on your panel.

  1. Log into your MintServers panel and click the Stop button to safely shut down your RimWorld Together server.
  2. Navigate to the Files tab on the left-hand sidebar.
  3. Use the interactive file manager to navigate to your server's Saves folder. Follow this path:
  4. 📁 server (or your main server directory)
    📁 Saves (Open this folder)
📄 YourWorldSave.zip (Upload your .zip file here)
  5. Once you are inside the Saves folder, click the Upload button and select the .zip file you created in Step 1.
  6. After the upload reaches 100%, right-click the .zip file (or click the three dots next to it) and select Unarchive or Decompress to extract your world folder.
  7. Optional: You can now delete the .zip file from the server to save storage space!

Step 3: Load Up The Colony

With the files successfully transferred and extracted, you are ready to play.

  1. Navigate back to the Console tab.
  2. Click Start to boot up your server.
  3. Launch RimWorld, hit Play Together, and connect to your server IP. You and your friends should load right back into your familiar colony!

If you join the server and it looks like a brand new world, or if the server crashes on startup, make sure that all the mods you used on your local save are properly installed on the server as well. Mod mismatches are the number one cause of save loading errors! If you are still having trouble getting your world to load, no worries! Just open a support ticket and our team will gladly jump in and get your save transferred for you.
