Keeping your Hytale server up-to-date ensures you and your players have access to the latest features, bug fixes, and security patches. At MintServers, we have designed the update process to be as seamless as possible!
Let us walk through how updates are handled and how you can switch between different game versions on your panel.
The Simple Solution: Automatic Updates
MintServers handles Hytale updates automatically. When you restart your server, the system automatically checks for newer versions and installs them if they are available.
Here is all you need to do:
- Log into your MintServers panel.
- On the left-hand sidebar, navigate to the Console tab.
- Click Stop and wait for the server to completely shut down.
- Click Start.
- Watch the console logs for an update confirmation message!
That is it! If a new version is available, it will be downloaded and installed automatically during startup.
Switching Versions (Release & Pre-release)
You can verify or change your server version using the toggle found in your settings.
- Navigate to the Game Settings tab on your panel.
- Locate the Release / Pre-release toggle button.
- Select your desired version (Release for stable, Pre-release for experimental features).
Your local Hytale game client must match the version selected on the server. If your server is set to Pre-release, ensure your game launcher on your PC is also updated to the Pre-release branch to connect successfully!
Before You Update
While updates are automatic, following these best practices will help prevent issues and keep your world safe:
1. Create a Backup
Always create a backup before updating to protect your worlds and player data.
- Go to the Backups tab in your panel.
- Click Create Backup.
- Wait for the completion notification before restarting your server.
2. Check Mod Compatibility
If you are running mods or plugins, verify they support the new version before updating. Visit the mod's page on CurseForge to check compatibility with the latest Hytale patch.
Outdated mods are the #1 cause of crashes after updates. If your server will not start after updating, temporarily remove all mods from the
/mods folder and restart to isolate the issue.
What Gets Updated?
When your server updates, only the core Hytale server software files are replaced. Your personal data remains perfectly safe!
- Preserved: Worlds, player data, configurations, and uploaded mods.
- Updated: Core server engine and system files.
🛠️ Troubleshooting Updates
Players are getting a "Version Mismatch" error: This usually means the server updated, but the players have not restarted their own game launchers to download the patch yet. Have them restart their game!
No worries if your server is failing to boot up after a patch! Just open a support ticket and our team will gladly jump in and instruct you on how to resolve any corrupted files or mod conflicts.
