Hytale launches into Early Access on January 13, 2026. Before you jump into this highly anticipated sandbox adventure game, you need to know if your PC can handle it. This guide covers the official system requirements for Hytale, from minimum specs to recommended settings for the best experience.
Minimum Requirements (30 FPS at 1080p)
The minimum requirements will let you play Hytale at 30+ FPS on Low preset at 1080p resolution. Here's what you need:
- OS: 64-bit Windows 10 (version 1809) or Windows 11
- CPU: Intel Core i5-7500 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200 (or equivalent)
- RAM: 8 GB (12 GB if using integrated graphics)
- GPU: Intel UHD Graphics 620, AMD Radeon Vega 3, NVIDIA GTX 900 Series, AMD Radeon 400 Series, or Intel Arc A-Series
- Storage: 20 GB free space on SATA SSD
- Network: 2 Mbit/s connection for multiplayer
If you're using integrated graphics like Intel UHD 620, expect around 30-34 FPS at 1080p. Set your view distance to 192 blocks and close other programs for the best performance.
Recommended Requirements (60 FPS at 1080p)
For a smooth 60+ FPS experience on High preset, you'll need:
- OS: 64-bit Windows 10 (version 1809) or Windows 11
- CPU: Intel Core i5-10400 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (or equivalent)
- RAM: 16 GB
- GPU: Intel Iris Xe Graphics, AMD Radeon 660M, NVIDIA GTX 900 Series, AMD Radeon 400 Series, or Intel Arc A-Series
- Storage: 20 GB free space on SSD
- Network: 8 Mbit/s connection for multiplayer
The recommended specs target 60 FPS at 1080p with High graphics settings and a view distance of 384 blocks, which is the developer's intended experience.
Streaming/Recording Requirements (1440p at 60 FPS)
Content creators who want to stream or record Hytale at 1440p will need higher-end hardware:
- OS: 64-bit Windows 10 (version 1809) or Windows 11
- CPU: Intel Core i7-10700K or AMD Ryzen 7 3800X (or equivalent)
- RAM: 32 GB
- GPU: NVIDIA RTX 30 Series, AMD Radeon RX 7000 Series, or Intel Arc A-series
- Storage: NVMe SSD with at least 50 GB free space
These specs ensure stable framerates during high-quality video capture. Hypixel Studios recommends using AV1 or HEVC encoding for recording, and using a separate drive for video recording to maximize performance.
Storage Requirements
Hytale's installation size is 8 GB, but your saved worlds will grow as you explore. Here's what to expect:
- Base installation: 8 GB
- Saved game (5000x5000 blocks): ~661 MB
- Per chunk (32x32): ~27 KB
Hypixel Studios recommends at least 10 GB of free storage, with 20 GB being the safe bet for long-term gameplay. An SSD is strongly recommended for faster load times and better performance.
Singleplayer vs Multiplayer Performance
Hytale's performance requirements change depending on how you play:
Singleplayer is more demanding. Your PC runs both the game client (graphics, UI) and the entire server simulation (NPCs, world generation, voxel logic). This means higher CPU and RAM usage compared to multiplayer.
Multiplayer is lighter on your PC. The server handles all the simulation work remotely, so your computer only needs to handle graphics and gameplay. If you only play multiplayer or minigames, you can get away with specs below the minimum requirements.
Understanding View Distance
View distance is the most impactful performance setting in Hytale. It controls how far you can see around your character.
Here's the challenge: doubling your view distance (e.g., 192 to 384 blocks) quadruples the amount of world your PC must render. That's 4x more blocks, NPCs, and calculations.
Hypixel Studios designed Hytale for a 384-block view distance, but you can adjust this based on your hardware:
- 192 blocks: Minimum spec systems
- 384 blocks: Recommended for the intended experience
- 768+ blocks: High-end systems only
Why CPU and RAM Matter More Than GPU
Hytale is a sandbox voxel game, which means it prioritizes CPU performance and RAM over GPU power. Once your GPU meets the minimum specs, upgrading your CPU and adding more RAM will improve performance more than buying a better graphics card.
The game builds large texture atlases and keeps world geometry in VRAM. Higher view distances increase VRAM usage, which can cause stuttering even on capable GPUs if they run out of video memory.
Mac and Linux Support
Hypixel Studios is actively working on Mac and Linux support. They plan to support both older Intel-based Macs and newer M1+ Apple Silicon Macs. System requirements for these platforms will be announced closer to launch.
Steam Deck Compatibility
Hytale should theoretically run on Steam Deck based on its specs, but Hypixel Studios hasn't tested it yet. The game won't launch on Steam immediately - the team needs to ensure they can comply with Steam's policies first. Input mappings and UI scaling for small displays also need work before Steam Deck becomes viable.
Performance Optimization Ongoing
Hytale is still being optimized during Early Access. Hypixel Studios is actively improving graphics rendering, world simulation, memory behavior, and GPU overhead. Performance will improve over time, so if your PC is slightly below recommended specs, it may run better in future updates.
Can Your PC Run Hytale?
Here's a quick summary to help you decide:
You can run Hytale if you have:
- A PC from the last 7-8 years with a mid-range CPU
- 8 GB RAM minimum (16 GB recommended)
- Any GPU from NVIDIA GTX 900 series or newer
- An SSD with 20 GB free space
You might struggle if you have:
- A laptop with only integrated graphics and 4 GB RAM
- A CPU older than Intel i5-7500 or Ryzen 3 1200
- A mechanical hard drive instead of an SSD
If your PC doesn't run singleplayer well, you can still enjoy Hytale by joining multiplayer servers, which are much less demanding on your hardware.
Getting Ready for Launch
Hytale launches into Early Access on January 13, 2026, with pre-orders starting December 13, 2025. If you're planning to play, make sure your PC meets at least the minimum requirements, and consider upgrading to an SSD if you're still using a mechanical drive.
