How to Install Hytale Mods & Plugins

How to Install Hytale Mods & Plugins

One of the best parts of hosting a Hytale server is customizing it. Whether you want to add simple quality-of-life features or complex gameplay changes, you need to install Mods or Plugins.

At MintServers, we make this process incredibly simple with our 1-Click Installer, but you can also upload files manually if you prefer.

Method 1: Using the 1-Click Mod Installer (Easiest)

Our control panel connects directly to a database of popular Hytale mods and plugins, allowing you to install them without ever leaving the website.

  1. Log into your MintServers game panel.
  2. On the left-side menu, look for the "Hytale Mods" tab.
  3. Use the Search Bar to find the specific mod you want.
  4. Click the "Install" button next to the mod name.
  5. The panel will automatically download the correct version and place it in the right folder.
  6. Restart your server to enable the new mod.

Method 2: Manual Installation

If the mod you want isn't in our auto-installer (for example, a custom mod from GitHub or a private developer), you can upload it manually.

Before you open your server files, you need to download the mods or plugins you want to use. To keep your server secure, we recommend sticking to trusted community platforms:

  • CurseForge: One of the industry standards for hosting community content. Look for files tagged specifically for "Hytale".

Version Check: Always ensure the file you download matches your server's current version. Installing a mismatched mod is the #1 cause of server crashes.

Step 1: Download the File

Download the mod or plugin (usually a .jar file) to your computer.

Step 2: Upload to File Manager

  1. Stop your server via the "Console" tab.
  2. Go to the "Files" tab.
  3. Open the folder that matches your content type:
    • /mods - For gameplay mods.
    • /earlyplugins - For server management plugins.

Note: You need to create the earlyplugins folder manually if it is not already in your files.

  4. Drag and drop your file into the browser window to upload it.

Step 3: Activate

Go back to the Console and click "Start". Watch the startup logs; you should see a message confirming that the mod has been loaded.

How to Install Mods on Your Client (Player Side)

If you want to play with mods installed on your own computer (client-side), you can install them using the CurseForge Launcher or manually.

Option A: Using the CurseForge Launcher (Recommended)

The CurseForge App is the safest and easiest way to manage mods on your PC without messing with system folders.

  1. Download and install the CurseForge App from their official website.
  2. Open the app and select Hytale from the game list.
  3. Click "Browse for Mods" or search for an existing Modpack.
  4. Click Install next to the mods you want.
  5. Click Play within the app to launch the game with your mods loaded.

Option B: Manual Client Installation

If you prefer not to use a launcher, you can place the files directly into your specific user data folder.

  1. Download the mod .jar file from a trusted source.
  2. Press Windows Key + R on your keyboard.
  3. Type %appdata% and press Enter.
  4. Open the Hytale folder.
  5. Navigate to the UserData folder.
  6. Open the Mods folder. (The full path should look like: AppData\Roaming\Hytale\UserData\Mods).
  7. If the Mods folder does not exist, create it manually inside UserData.
  8. Drag and drop your downloaded mod file into this folder.
  9. Launch the game.
