To use cheat commands, change gamemodes, or ban players on your Hytale server, you need to have Operator (OP) status. By default, even the server owner does not have these permissions until they are manually granted via the console.
Let us walk through your MintServers game panel and get your admin rights set up!
Step 1: Access the Server Console
Since you cannot run admin commands in-game yet without the proper permissions, you must use the server console in your control panel to grant them.
- Log into your MintServers panel.
- Select your Hytale server from the dashboard.
- On the left-hand sidebar, click on the Console tab.
Step 2: Run the OP Command
In the console input bar at the bottom of the screen, you will need to type the operator command. Replace Your_Name with the exact in-game name of the player you are targeting.
- For example, if your in-game name is MintPlayer, you would type the following:
- Press Enter to send the command to the server.
You do not need to type a forward slash (/) when using the panel's console. Slashes are only used when typing commands in-game!
Step 3: Verify Permissions
You should see a confirmation message in the console stating that the player's role was updated. To verify it worked:
- Join the server in-game.
- Open your text chat and try running a command to test your status:
If the command executes successfully, congratulations! You now have full admin access.
Step 4: How to Remove Admin Rights
If you ever need to revoke permissions from a player (for example, if a staff member leaves), you can use the remove command in your server console:
This will immediately strip the player of their ability to use admin commands.
Be careful who you grant OP status to! A player with these privileges has full control over your server. They can ban other players, stop the server, or use commands that could permanently alter your map. Only grant this permission to people you trust completely.
🛠️ Troubleshooting Permissions
Commands still returning "Permission Denied": Ensure you typed the player's name exactly as it appears in-game, as it is case-sensitive! If they are currently online while you run the command, they may need to log out and reconnect for the permissions to fully apply.
No worries if your operator status is still refusing to apply! Just open a support ticket and our team will gladly jump in and instruct you on how to resolve your permissions.
