Managing your Minecraft Bedrock server requires admin privileges, often referred to as OP (Operator) status. Giving yourself or another player these permissions allows you to use in-game commands, change gamemodes, and control server settings directly from the game.
Here is how you can quickly grant admin rights using the MintServers Game Panel.
Step 1: Opping a Player via the Console
The fastest and most common way to become an admin is by using the server console. Follow these clear instructions:
- Log in to your MintServers Dashboard and select your Minecraft Bedrock server from your active server list.
- Navigate to the Console tab on the left-hand sidebar.
- In the command input line at the bottom of the console, type:
op "YourGamertag"(Make sure to replace "YourGamertag" with the actual Xbox Live username). - Press Enter. The console will display a confirmation message stating that the player has been opped!
If the player's username has spaces in it, you absolutely must wrap their name in quotation marks inside the console, like this:
op "My Gamertag".
Step 2: Checking Your Admin Status
Once you have run the command in the console, join your Bedrock server. You can test if the permissions were granted successfully by opening the in-game chat and typing a basic admin command, such as:
If your game mode changes, your admin setup is complete and working perfectly!
🛠️ Troubleshooting Admin Commands
- Permission Denied: If you receive a message saying you do not have permission, double-check that you spelled your gamertag correctly in the console and try again.
- Cheats are Disabled: Remember, to use commands in Bedrock, you must also have cheats enabled in your
Server Propertiestab (allow-cheats=true).
No worries if your server is still refusing to grant you OP permissions! Just open a support ticket and our team will gladly jump in and instruct you on how to resolve the configuration.
