How to Join Custom Servers on Minecraft Bedrock (Xbox, PS4/PS5, Nintendo Switch)

How to Join Custom Servers on Minecraft Bedrock (Xbox, PS4/PS5, Switch)

Consoles like Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch do not natively support adding custom server IP addresses. However, using the BedrockConnect DNS method, you can redirect the built-in "Featured Servers" list to a custom menu that allows you to join any MintServers hosted server.

For more technical details, visit the official project here: BedrockConnect GitHub. Please note that MintServers is not affiliated with the BedrockConnect project.

How it Works

By changing your console's DNS settings, we redirect the traffic meant for "Featured Servers" (like The Hive or Lifeboat) to the BedrockConnect server list. This creates a portal where you can type in your own custom IP and Port.

Choose Your Console

Select your device below to configure your internet settings. Note: PlayStation uses a different DNS address than Xbox and Switch.

Xbox (One & Series X/S)

DNS Address: Primary: 104.238.130.180 | Secondary: 8.8.8.8

  1. Go to Settings > General > Network settings.
  2. Select Advanced settings.
  3. Select DNS settings and choose Manual.
  4. Enter 104.238.130.180 for the Primary IPv4 DNS.
  5. Enter 8.8.8.8 for the Secondary IPv4 DNS.
  6. Save and exit.

How to Join Your Server

Once your DNS is configured, follow these steps to access the server list:

  1. Open Minecraft and go to the Servers tab.
  2. Join one of the following "Featured Servers" (these are redirect-compatible):
    • Mineville
    • Lifeboat
    • Enchanted
    • Galaxite
    • The Hive
  3. Instead of joining the featured server, you will see the BedrockConnect menu (sometimes called "Join to Open Server List").
  4. Select Connect to a Server.
  5. Enter your MintServers IP Address and Port and click Submit.

Note: If you want to play the normal Featured Servers again, simply return your DNS settings to "Automatic".
