Exploring the tenth Norse world is an epic adventure, but adding mods can take your Valheim experience to a whole new level. Whether you want to add Epic Loot, tweak settings with Valheim Plus, or introduce new building pieces, installing mods is super simple.
The best part? When you install Valheim on MintServers, the core modding framework (BepInEx) is already pre-installed for you! You do not have to worry about complex setups—you can either use our automatic 1-click installer or just drop your mod files right into the plugins folder. Let us get them installed!
Always make sure your server is completely stopped before installing new files. Keep in mind that for most Valheim mods to work, all players joining the server must also install the exact same mods on their own computers!
Method 1: Using The 1-Click Installer
The absolute easiest way to get your mods running is to use our built-in automated installer directly from your panel.
- Log into your MintServers panel and click the Stop button on your Valheim server.
- Navigate to the Valheim Mods tab on the left-hand sidebar.
- Use the search bar to find the specific mod you want to add.
- Click the Install button. The panel will automatically download the mod and place it in the correct folder for you!
- Head back to the Console and click Start to boot your server back up with your new mods loaded.
Method 2: Uploading Mods Manually
If a mod is not available on the installer, you can easily upload it yourself. Most Valheim mods are downloaded as compressed folders from sites like Thunderstore or NexusMods. Inside those downloads, you will usually find a .dll file. Here is how to get that file onto your server.
- Download your desired mod and extract the .dll file to your computer.
- Head over to your MintServers panel and click the Stop button.
- Click on the Files tab on the left sidebar to open the File Manager.
- Navigate through the file structure by clicking on the BepInEx folder, and then opening the plugins folder.

📄 your_mod_file.dll (Your uploaded mod file.) - Once inside the plugins folder, click the Upload button and select the .dll file from your computer.
- Wait for the upload to complete.
- Head back to the Console and click Start to boot your server back up. As the server starts, BepInEx will automatically read and load your new mod!
🛠️ Troubleshooting Mod Installations
If you connect to the server and the mod does not seem to be doing anything, double-check that you uploaded the file to the correct plugins folder inside BepInEx. Also, make sure that the mod you downloaded matches the current version of Valheim, and that you have it installed on your own game client as well.
