Not sure what seed your Valheim world is running on? If you never wrote it down when you created the world, digging through server files to find it is a pain. This tool skips all of that: upload your world's .fwl file below and it will read the seed straight out of it, instantly.
.fwl file. If you can't find a standalone .fwl file for your world, this is why, this tool doesn't support the new format yet. It still works for any world that hasn't been re-saved since before the 1.0 update.
Step 1: Download Your World File
Every Valheim world is made up of two files that share the same name: a .db file (the actual world data) and a .fwl file (a small metadata file that stores the world's name and seed). You only need the .fwl file for this tool.
- Log into your MintServers panel and click the Stop button to shut down your server.
- Navigate to the Files tab on the left-hand sidebar.
- Browse to your world save folder. This is typically located at the path below, inside your main server directory:
- If you don't see the folder at that exact path, use the Files tab's search or browse around, the folder is always named
worlds_local. - Right-click (or use the ⋮ menu) on the
.fwlfile matching your world's name and choose Download.

.fwl file ever looks corrupted or gives an error below, look for a .fwl.old file in the same folder. It's an automatic backup and works with this tool too.
Step 2: Find Your Seed
Drop the file you just downloaded into the box below.
.fwl file, or drag it here🛠️ Troubleshooting
This doesn't look like a valid Valheim world file:Make sure you selected the.fwlfile and not the.dbfile. If the download got interrupted or the file looks unusually small, re-download it and try again. My seed is a short string of random letters, not a word I chose:That's normal. If you left the seed field blank when creating the world, Valheim generates a random one automatically, this tool is showing you exactly what the game used. The seed doesn't seem to work when I try to regenerate the world:Use the exact text shown in the Seed field above, including capitalization. Also keep in mind that the same seed can generate a different map on a different game version.Nothing happens when I click the box:Make sure your browser allows file uploads on this page and try a different browser if the issue continues.
And that's it, no manual file editing or guesswork needed. If the tool isn't picking up your seed correctly or you're having any other trouble with your world files, no worries! Just open a support ticket and our team will gladly take a look.
