How to Upload an Existing World to Your Smalland Server

Smalland saves each world as a single .wld file, which makes it easy to move a world you have already been playing onto your server. This guide shows you where to find your world file and how to upload it.

⚠️ Important Warning: Uploading a world can overwrite progress already on the server. Always make sure your server is completely stopped before uploading files, and download a copy of any world you want to keep first.

Step 1: Find Your Local World File

  1. On your computer, press Windows Key + R.
  2. Paste in the following path and press Enter:
    %LOCALAPPDATA%\SMALLAND\Saved\SaveGames\Worlds
  3. Each world you have played is stored here as a .wld file. Find the one you want to move and copy it somewhere easy to reach, like your desktop.

Step 2: Upload It To Your Server

  1. Log into your MintServers Games panel and click Stop to shut down your server.
  2. Click the Files tab in the left-hand sidebar.
  3. Navigate to the SMALLAND/Saved/SaveGames/Worlds folder:
    📁 SMALLAND
    📁 Saved
    📁 SaveGames
    📁 Worlds
📄 YourWorldName.wld (Upload your world file here)
  4. Upload your .wld file into that folder.
💡 Large Files: If your world file is too large to upload through the browser, you can upload it over SFTP instead. See our guide on how to connect with SFTP.

Step 3: Set The World Name

  1. Click the Game Settings tab under the Tools section of the left-hand sidebar.
  2. Set World Name to the exact name of your file, without the .wld at the end. For example, YourWorldName.wld would be entered as YourWorldName.
  3. Save your changes and click Start.

Troubleshooting

  • A fresh world loads instead of mine: The World Name in Game Settings does not match your uploaded file. It must match the file name exactly, without the .wld.
  • Can't find my world file: Double-check you are looking in %LOCALAPPDATA%\SMALLAND\Saved\SaveGames\Worlds on the computer where you played the world.

Once your world is loaded, your friends can join and pick up right where you left off. See our Join Server guide for the joining steps. If you run into any trouble, no worries! Just open a support ticket and our team will gladly jump in and help.
