How to Update Your Terraria tModLoader Server
Keeping your tModLoader server up to date is essential for playing with the latest mods and features. This guide will show you how to select a specific version and update your server files easily.
Step 1: Select Your Version
First, you need to verify which version of tModLoader you wish to install. This is useful if you need to match a specific mod version or update to the absolute latest release.
Visit the official GitHub tags page here: https://github.com/tModLoader/tModLoader/tags.
Find the version you want (e.g., v2022.09.47.88) and copy the tag name exactly as it appears.
Step 2: Update Game Settings
Next, you need to tell the server which version to fetch.
- Log in to your MintServers game panel.
- On the left-hand sidebar, click on Game Settings (sometimes labeled as Startup).
- Locate the version field for tModLoader.
- Paste the version tag you copied from GitHub into this box.
Step 3: Reinstall the Server
Changing the version number in the settings does not automatically update the files. You must trigger a reinstall to download the new version.
- Click on the Settings tab in your server panel.
- Click the Reinstall Server button.
The server will briefly go offline to download the files for the version you selected. Once the process is complete, start your server, and you will be running the updated version of tModLoader.
