Enabling developer cheats on your s&box server is perfect for testing custom game modes, building massive structures, or just having fun with your friends without limits. Once activated, it unlocks a variety of powerful Source 2 console commands like noclip, god mode, and item spawning.
Let us walk through how to easily enable cheats using your MintServers panel.
Step 1: Open Your Server Console
The fastest and most reliable way to toggle cheats is directly through your live server console.
- Log into your MintServers game panel and select your s&box server.
- Navigate to the Console tab on the left-hand sidebar.
Step 2: Enter the Cheats Command
Now you just need to tell the server engine to allow cheat commands globally.
- In the command line at the bottom of the console, type the following command:
- Press Enter to send the command. The console will quickly update to confirm that the value has been changed.
Cheats are now active! Players with the appropriate permissions can now press their tilde key (~) in-game to open their local developer console and start using commands.
Step 3: Disabling Cheats
If you finish testing and want to revert your server back to normal gameplay, it is just as simple to turn them off.
- Return to the Console tab on your panel.
- Type
sv_cheats 0and press Enter.
🛠️ Troubleshooting Cheats
Commands say permission denied: Even with sv_cheats enabled, s&box still requires players to have proper admin rights to execute certain commands. Ensure you have added yourself as an admin on the server first!
If your commands are still refusing to work properly, just open a support ticket and our team will gladly jump in and instruct you on how to resolve the configuration.
