One of the best features of s&box is the incredible variety of user-generated content available right at your fingertips. From classic sandbox experiences to complex roleplay servers, changing the core gamemode of your server is a quick and easy process through your MintServers control panel.
Step 1: How to Find a s&box Gamemode Identifier
To change your server's gamemode, you first need to locate the specific identifier for the game you want to host. You can easily find this using the official s&box website.
- Visit the s&box games workshop in your web browser and click on the gamemode you wish to host.
- Look at your browser's address bar. The identifier is based on the part of the URL following
sbox.game/. - To format the identifier correctly for your server, you must replace the forward slash (
/) with a period (.).
If the URL of the gamemode is
sbox.game/facepunch/sandbox, your identifier will be facepunch.sandbox.
Step 2: Update Your MintServers Panel
Once you have your gamemode identifier ready, you can load it onto your server in just a few clicks.
- Log in to your MintServers game panel and select your s&box server.
- Navigate to the Game Settings tab on the left-hand menu of your control panel.
- Find the game setting field.
- Type or paste your custom Identifier (e.g.,
facepunch.sandbox) directly into the field and press Enter. - Click the Save button to confirm your changes.
- Head back to your Console and Restart your server so the new gamemode downloads and initializes!
🛠️ Troubleshooting Gamemode Loads
The server crashed on startup: Double-check the spelling of your gamemode identifier! If you accidentally left a slash (/) or made a typo, the server will not be able to locate the game files to download.
No worries if your server is still refusing to load your custom gamemode! Just open a support ticket and our team will gladly jump in and instruct you on how to resolve the configuration.
