How To Add Admins To Your Dont Starve Together Server

Managing a Don't Starve Together server is much easier when you have a trusted team to help you out! Granting admin privileges allows players to kick griefers, roll back the server, and use helpful console commands.

Let us walk through your MintServers game panel and get your admins set up!

Step 1: Find the Klei User ID

To make someone an admin, you will need their unique Klei User ID. This always starts with KU_ followed by a string of letters and numbers.

  1. Have the player launch Don't Starve Together on their computer.
  2. On the main menu, click the Account button (it looks like a little person icon in the bottom right corner).
  3. Their Klei User ID will be displayed right at the top of the screen. Have them copy this and send it to you!

Step 2: Add the ID to Your Server Files

Now that you have the ID, we need to add it to your server's admin list file.

  1. Log into your MintServers panel and click the Stop button to ensure your server is completely offline.
  2. On the left-hand sidebar, click on the Files tab to open your File Manager.
  3. Navigate to the following folder path to locate or create your admin list:
📁 server (main server directory)
📁 DoNotStarveTogether
📁 config
📁 server
📄 adminlist.txt (Click to edit or click New File to create this)
  1. Open the file and paste the Klei User ID inside. If you are adding multiple admins, put each ID on its own separate line.

KU_87654321

Step 3: Save and Restart

  1. Click the Save Content button at the top of the editor.
  2. Head back to your Console and Start the server.

Once the server boots up, those players will officially have admin access and can start using commands!

🛠️ Troubleshooting Admin Setup

Commands are not working: Make sure the Klei User ID was copied exactly. It must include the KU_ prefix and is completely case-sensitive!

No worries if your admins are still unable to use their permissions! Just open a support ticket and our team will gladly jump in and instruct you on how to resolve the configuration.
