How to Add Admins on Your Avorion Server (Steam64 ID & Commands)

Admins can kick and ban players, save the galaxy and manage the server from inside the game. Avorion identifies admins by their Steam64 ID, and there are two ways to set them up: the default admin in your MintServers panel, and additional admins added with a game command.

Step 1: Find The Steam64 ID

You will need the Steam64 ID for each player you want to make an admin. This is a long number unique to their Steam account.

💡 Pro Tip: Copy the player's Steam profile link and paste it into any online Steam ID Lookup tool. The Steam64 ID usually starts with 7656...

Step 2: Set The Default Admin

The default admin is set in your panel's game settings.

  1. Log into your MintServers panel and click Stop.
  2. Open the Game Settings tab in the left sidebar.
  3. Enter your Steam64 ID in the admin ID field.
  4. Save your changes and click Start.

Step 3: Add More Admins With Commands

Once your server is running, an existing admin can promote other players. Commands can be typed in the in-game chat by an admin, or in the Console tab of your MintServers panel.

  1. Start your server and wait for it to finish loading.
  2. Type the following command, replacing the number with the new admin's Steam64 ID:
📄 Add an admin
/admin -a --id YOUR_STEAM64_ID

You can also promote a player by their in-game name instead:

📄 Add an admin by name
/admin -a --name PLAYER_NAME

To remove an admin, use the same command with -r instead of -a:

📄 Remove an admin
/admin -r --id YOUR_STEAM64_ID
💡 Verify It: To double-check who has admin access, open the admin.xml file in your galaxy folder from the Files tab. Every admin is listed inside the section.

Useful Admin Commands

  • /save: Force a save of the galaxy.
  • /stop: Save and shut the server down.
  • /status: Show server status information.
  • /player: Show player information.
  • /kick: Kick a player from the server.
  • /ban and /banip: Ban a player or an IP address.

Troubleshooting

🛠️ Troubleshooting Common Issues

  • Commands not working: Make sure you are typing them as an admin, and that the command starts with a forward slash (/).
  • Wrong Steam ID: Double-check that you used the long Steam64 ID (starting with 7656...) and not a Steam username or friend code.
  • Default admin not applied: Stop the server, confirm the ID has no extra spaces, save the setting, and start the server again.

Your new admins are ready to keep the galaxy in order! If you run into any trouble, no worries! Just open a support ticket and our team will gladly jump in and get it sorted out together.
