How to Export and Upload Server Packages for Your American Truck Simulator Server

Your American Truck Simulator server doesn't read your mods or DLC directly — it relies on two package files, server_packages.sii and server_packages.dat, that describe your exact game setup. Any time your local mod list, DLC ownership, or game version changes, you'll need to re-export these files from your own game client and upload them to your server to keep everyone in sync.

This guide walks through the full process, from generating the files locally to replacing them on your server.

Step 1: Enabling The Developer Console

The export command is only accessible through American Truck Simulator's developer console. If you don't already have it enabled, open the config.cfg file in your Documents/American Truck Simulator folder and add the following two lines:

📄 config.cfg
uset g_developer "1"
uset g_console "1"

Save the file and launch the game — the console will now be available anytime you press the ~ key.

💡 Pro Tip: Already have the developer console enabled from a previous setup? Feel free to skip straight to Step 2.

Step 2: Exporting Your Server Packages

With the console enabled, you're ready to generate a fresh set of package files that match your current mod list, DLC, and game version.

  1. Launch American Truck Simulator and load into a career game or convoy session so a map is active.
  2. Press the ~ key to open the developer console.
  3. Type export_server_packages and press Enter. The console will confirm the export was successful.
  4. Press Windows Key + R, paste the path below, and press Enter to jump straight to the export folder:
📄 Run dialog
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\American Truck Simulator
  1. You'll find two freshly generated files here: server_packages.sii and server_packages.dat. Keep this folder open — you'll need both files in the next step.

Step 3: Uploading The Files To Your Server

⚠️ Important Warning: Always stop your server in the MintServers panel before uploading these files. Replacing them while the server is still running can leave your session with a broken or mismatched package.

With your two exported files ready on your PC, move them over to your server.

  1. Log into your MintServers panel and click the Stop button to shut down your server, if it isn't already.
  2. Navigate to the Files tab on the left-hand sidebar.
  3. Use the file manager to browse to the following folder:
  4. 📁 server (or your main server directory)
    📁 .local
    📁 share
    📁 American Truck Simulator
    📄 server_config.sii
📄 server_packages.sii (replace with your exported file)
📄 server_packages.dat (replace with your exported file)
  5. Delete the existing server_packages.sii and server_packages.dat files, then upload the two files you just exported from your PC in their place.
  6. Navigate back to the Console tab and click Start.
💡 Good To Know: Exporting doesn't lock you out of anything — anyone with access to the game client can generate these files, and there's no limit on how often you re-export. If you ever add or remove a mod, change your DLC, or update the game, just repeat this process to keep your server current.

Your server is now running with package files that match your local setup! Remember that every player connecting still needs the same mods active in their own game client — the server packages only describe your side of the setup, they don't distribute the mods themselves. If a player can't connect after you've updated, that mismatch is the first thing to check. If you run into any trouble, open a support ticket and our team will gladly help you get it sorted.
