How to Upload a Save to Your Eco Server

If you've got an existing Eco world, whether it's a singleplayer save or one moved over from another host, you can upload it to your MintServers server and pick up right where you left off.

Step 1: Locate Your Local Save Files

  1. Open your Steam Library, right-click Eco, and select Manage then Browse Local Files.
  2. Navigate to Eco_Data/Server/Storage.
  3. Find your world's .db and .eco files. Both will share the same name, matching whatever you named your world.
  4. Copy both files somewhere handy, you'll need them in a moment.
💡 Pro Tip: Before uploading anything, take a backup of your MintServers server from the Backups tab. That way, if anything goes wrong with the upload, you can roll back to the world your server had before you started.

Step 2: Upload And Rename Your Save

⚠️ Important Warning: Stop your server before touching the Storage folder. Uploading a save while the server is running can corrupt both the new world and the one currently running.
  1. Log into your MintServers panel and Stop your server.
  2. Navigate to the Files tab and open the Storage folder.
  3. Delete or rename the existing Game.db and Game.eco files already in this folder, these are your server's current world.
  4. Upload the .db and .eco files you copied earlier.
  5. Rename both uploaded files to exactly Game.db and Game.eco, regardless of what your world was originally named.
  6. Navigate back to the Console tab and click Start.
📝 Uploading Multiple or Large Files? The browser-based Files tab works fine for most saves, but for large files or folders with many pieces, an SFTP client like FileZilla or WinSCP is faster and more reliable. See our guide to connecting via SFTP to get set up.
📌 Note: Eco looks for a save named exactly Game.db and Game.eco in the Storage folder by default. The rename step is what actually tells the server to load your world instead of generating a new one.

Your world, along with all its buildings, land claims, and player progress, will be waiting for you the next time you connect.

🛠️ Troubleshooting Common Upload Issues

  • Server loads a fresh world instead of yours: Double-check both files are named exactly Game.db and Game.eco, capitalization included.
  • Server crashes on startup: Make sure the .db and .eco files came from the same save. Mixing files from two different worlds will corrupt the save.
  • Admins or whitelist missing after the upload: Those settings live in Users.eco inside the Configs folder, not the Storage folder, they won't transfer automatically with your world save.
  • Upload seems stuck or incomplete: Large worlds can take a while to upload. Give it time, and avoid navigating away from the Files tab until it finishes.

If you'd rather not handle the transfer yourself, no worries! Just open a support ticket and our team will gladly help move your world over.
