How to Set a Welcome Message (MOTD) on Your Return to Moria Server

A welcome message is a great way to share your server rules or greet new players as they join. In Return to Moria, this message lives in a simple text file called MoriaServerRules.txt.

⚠️ Important Warning: Always stop your server on the MintServers panel before editing MoriaServerRules.txt.

Step 1: Open The Rules File

Log into your MintServers panel, select your Return to Moria server, and click Stop.
Open the Files tab in the left-hand sidebar.
In your main server directory, click MoriaServerRules.txt to open the text editor.

Step 2: Write Your Message

Type your message as plain text. It is shown to players when they connect. Here is an example you can use as a starting point:

Welcome to our Moria server! Rules:
- No griefing
- Respect other players
- Have fun exploring the mines!

💡 Message Length Limit
Your message can be up to 1024 characters long. Anything beyond that may not be shown, so keep it short and to the point.

Click the Save Content button at the top right of the editor.
Go back to the Console tab and click Start.

🛠️ Troubleshooting Welcome Message Issues

Message not showing: Make sure you saved the file while the server was stopped, then start the server again and rejoin.
Message looks cut off: Check that it is under 1024 characters.
