How to Configure Your Aloft Server Settings

Your Aloft server doesn't use a config file — all of its settings are managed directly from the MintServers panel. This guide walks through every option on the configuration page and what it does.

⚠️ Important Warning: Map Name, Creative Mode, and Number of Islands only apply when a world is first generated. Changing them after your world already exists will not affect your current save — you would need to create a new world under a new Map Name to apply them.

World Settings

Map Name

The name of the map and save file that will be created for your world. Spaces are not allowed. Changing this after your world exists will generate a brand new save rather than renaming the current one.

Creative Mode

Sets whether the world is generated in Creative or Survival mode. This only applies the first time the world is generated and cannot be changed on an existing save.

Number of Islands

Controls how many islands are generated in your map. Like Map Name and Creative Mode, this only applies the first time the world is generated.

Server Listing & Access

Server Name

The name your server will show under in the in-game server list. Spaces are not currently supported here, so use underscores or run words together instead.

Is Visible

Controls whether your server shows up in the public in-game server browser. Turn this off if you'd rather keep your server private and only accessible to players you share the join code with.

Max Players

The maximum number of players allowed on your server at one time, up to a hard cap of 8.

Player Management

Admin IDs

Enter one or more Steam64 IDs to grant admin permissions on your server. To add multiple admins, separate each Steam64 ID with a space.

Private Islands

Turn this on to protect players' home islands from being spawned on or interfered with by other players.

Advanced

⚠️ Save Path: This field stores the path to your save data and should not be changed unless you're certain of what you're doing. Editing it incorrectly can prevent your server from finding or loading your world.

🛠️ Troubleshooting

  • Changed Map Name, Creative Mode, or Number of Islands but nothing happened: These only apply on first world generation. You'll need a new Map Name to start a fresh world with those settings.
  • Players can't find my server: Make sure Is Visible is turned on, and double-check your Server Name for typos.
  • Admin permissions aren't working: Confirm you entered the correct Steam64 ID (not a username or profile URL) in the Admin IDs field.

And that's every setting on your Aloft configuration page! Once your server is set up the way you like, check out our guide on how to join an Aloft server to get playing. If anything isn't behaving as expected, no worries! Just open a support ticket and our team will take a look.
