How To Change Your Minecraft Server Difficulty

How to Change Your Minecraft Server's Difficulty

Whether you want a peaceful building experience or a challenging survival adventure, changing your server's difficulty is simple. There are four difficulty levels in Minecraft: Peaceful, Easy, Normal, and Hard. This guide will show you two different methods to set the difficulty on your MintServer.

Method 1: Using the Server Properties Tab (Recommended)

This method uses your panel's built-in editor to set the default difficulty for your server. This setting is permanent and will apply every time the server starts, making it the best way to set your server's difficulty.

  1. Stop Your Server: Before making changes, always stop your server from the Console page.
  2. Go to Server Properties: On the left-side menu of your Game Panel, click on the "Server Properties" tab.
  3. Find the Difficulty Dropdown: Scroll through the list of settings until you find the "Difficulty" option.
  4. Select Your Difficulty: Click on the dropdown menu and choose your desired difficulty from the list (Peaceful, Easy, Normal, or Hard).
  5. Save and Restart: Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Save button. Then, return to the console and start your server. The new difficulty is now set.

Method 2: Using an In-Game Command (Quick Change)

This method allows you to change the difficulty instantly while you are in the game. To use this method, you must be a server Operator (OP).

  1. Join Your Server: Log into your Minecraft server.
  2. Open the Chat: Press the 'T' key to open the chat/command window.
  3. Type the Command: The command is /difficulty . Simply replace with your desired difficulty.
    • /difficulty peaceful
    • /difficulty easy
    • /difficulty normal
    • /difficulty hard
  4. Press Enter: The game will confirm that the difficulty has been changed. This setting will apply to the world you are currently in.
