Admins on a Sons of the Forest server can use in-game commands like godmode, superjump, and item spawning to help manage the game and troubleshoot issues. Granting admin access is done by editing a single whitelist file on your server. This guide walks you through it.
Step 1: Finding a Steam64 ID
Before editing the server files, you will need the exact Steam64 ID for each player you want to make an admin. This is a long 17-digit number unique to their Steam account.
Step 2: Editing the Owners Whitelist File
- Log into your MintServers panel and click the Stop button to safely shut down your server.
- Navigate to the Files tab on the left-hand sidebar.
- Open the
serverconfigfolder, then open theownerswhitelist.txtfile:
📁 server (your main server directory)
📁 serverconfig
- On a new line, add the Steam64 ID for each player you want to grant admin access to. Add one ID per line, with nothing else on that line.
- Click the Save Content button at the top right of the file editor.
- Navigate back to the Console tab and click Start.
Step 3: Using Admin Commands In-Game
The admin menu is disabled by default and needs to be activated each time you join. Once activated, you can enter commands directly.
- Join your server.
- Press Enter to open chat, type
cheatstick, and press Enter again to confirm. The text will not appear as you type, this is normal. - Press
F1to open the admin menu. - Enter your desired command, for example
godmode on.
