Most of your Stationeers server's settings, like its name, passwords, world, and player limit, live in one place: the Game Settings tab on your MintServers panel. This guide walks through what you can change and what each option does.
⚠️ Important Warning:
Always stop your server on your MintServers panel before changing any settings, then start it again afterwards so the changes take effect.
Changing Your Server Settings
- Log into your MintServers panel and click the Stop button at the top right to shut down your server.
- Click Game Settings under the Tools section in the left-hand sidebar.
- Change the settings you want (see the list below).
- Save your changes.
- Click Start at the top right of the panel.
💡 Use The Game Settings Tab

Stationeers also generates a
setting.xml file on your server, but editing it by hand is not reliable in current versions of the game. We recommend making all of your changes from the Game Settings tab instead.
What Each Setting Does
- Admin Password - The password that unlocks admin commands in-game. See our Stationeers Become Admin guide.
- Server Name - The name shown in the in-game server list. The default is
Hosted by MintServers, so we recommend changing it to something unique. - World Name - Which world your server runs, such as Lunar. See our Stationeers Change World guide.
- Difficulty - Choose from Creative, Easy, Normal, or Stationeer.
- Start Condition and Start Location - What new players start with and where they spawn. These depend on your world, so see our Stationeers Change World guide for the matching options.
- Save Name - The name of your world's save. The server automatically saves and loads the world with this name whenever it starts. See our Stationeers Upload an Existing Save guide if you want to use a save from your own computer.
- Max Players - The number of player slots. Stationeers runs a heavy atmosphere simulation, and the community wiki recommends staying at 20 players or fewer.
- Server Password - Leave this empty for an open server, or set one to keep your server private. Players will need it to join.
- Auto Save - Turns automatic saving on or off.
- Save Interval - How often the server saves, in seconds. The default is 300, which is every 5 minutes. Avoid going below 60 seconds.
- Auto Update - Keeps your server updated to the latest version of Stationeers automatically. If your server updates, make sure your own game is updated too.
- Update Port - The port used for game updates. This is set for you, so there is normally no need to change it.
- Beta Branch - Lets you run your server on the game's beta version. Leave this on
public (default)unless you specifically need the beta. Your players' games must be on the same branch. - Auto Pause - Pauses the game when nobody is connected.
- Server Visible - Controls whether your server appears in the in-game list. If it is turned off, players can still connect by IP. See our Stationeers Join Server guide.
