Managing a growing Minecraft server can be a lot to handle all by yourself! Adding trusted friends or staff members to help with administrative tasks is the perfect way to share the workload and ensure your community stays running smoothly.
This guide will walk you through how to securely add members and manage their specific permissions using the MintServers control panel, all without ever sharing your primary account passwords. Let us get your team set up!
Why Add Server Members?
- Shared Responsibility: Distribute server management tasks among trusted individuals.
- Better Coverage: Ensure server issues can be addressed even when you are unavailable.
- Enhanced Security: Grant specific permissions without sharing your main account credentials.
- Improved Organization: Assign different roles to team members based on their actual responsibilities.
How to Add Members to Your Server
You can securely invite new members directly from your MintServers dashboard.
Step 1: Access the Members Section
- Log into your account at the MintServers Dashboard.
- Select your server and click on the Members option in the left-hand server management panel.
Step 2: Invite New Members & Configure Permissions
- Click the blue Invite Member button.
- Enter the email address of the person you want to add.
- Choose their role: Select Administrator for full unrestricted access, or Member (Selected Permissions) for custom access.
- If you chose "Member", you can now check the boxes to grant access to specific functions like Game Panel access (Console, Files, Backups), or billing management (View Invoices, Renew Orders).
Step 3: Send the Invitation
- Review the selected permissions and click Send Invite.
- The invited user will get an email with instructions to accept the invitation and access the server!
Managing Existing Members
You can easily modify permissions or remove a member at any time. Simply navigate back to the Members section, find the member you wish to manage, and use the options menu to edit their permissions or revoke their access from the server entirely.
🛠️ Best Practices & Troubleshooting
- Principle of Least Privilege: Only grant permissions that a member absolutely needs to perform their role. Avoid giving universal Administrator access unless completely necessary!
- Lost Invitations: If your staff member did not receive the invite, have them check their spam or junk folder. Alternatively, they can just create a MintServers account using the exact email address you invited, and the server will automatically appear in their dashboard.
- Prompt Removal: If a team member is no longer active or part of your team, remove their access promptly to maintain server security.
