Avorion has a huge Steam Workshop scene, and adding mods to your server is easy. Mods are controlled by a small file called modconfig.lua. Add the Workshop ID of each mod, start the server, and Avorion downloads everything for you.
modconfig.lua. We also recommend adding a few mods at a time so you can spot which one causes problems, and downloading a backup of your galaxy first.
Step 1: Get The Workshop ID
- Open the Steam Workshop for Avorion and find the mod you want.
- Copy the Workshop ID, which is the number at the end of the mod page's web address.
Step 2: Edit modconfig.lua
- Log into your MintServers panel and click Stop.
- Open the Files tab in the left sidebar.
- Open your galaxy folder and click
modconfig.luato edit it:
📁 galaxy (your main server directory)
📁 Avorion (your galaxy name)
- Add each mod's Workshop ID inside the
modssection, one per line, with a comma between entries:
- Click Save Content, then go to the Console tab and click Start.
modconfig.lua, create a new file with that exact name inside your galaxy folder and paste in the example above.
What The Settings Mean
mods: Server-side mods, listed by Workshop ID. Avorion downloads them automatically when the server starts.allowed: Client-side only mods, such as UI mods, that players are allowed to use. These also use Workshop IDs, written as{id = "1234567890"}.forceEnabling: Keep this set tofalse. Forcing mods to load can lead to broken or corrupted saves.modLocation: Leave this empty to use the default location.
How Players Get Your Mods
Players do not need to subscribe to your mods by hand. When they connect, Avorion downloads the required mods automatically, so the first join may take a little longer.
Removing A Mod
Stop your server, delete the mod's {workshopid = "..."} line from modconfig.lua, save, and start the server again. To disable a mod temporarily, put -- at the very start of its line instead of deleting it.
