Scenarios are the main way to mod Empyrion: Galactic Survival. They add community-made galaxies, game modes and content to your server. This guide shows you how to install a Steam Workshop scenario by uploading it manually.

Step 1: Download The Scenario
- Open the scenario's page on the Steam Workshop and click Subscribe.
- Wait for Steam to finish downloading it, then open the folder where Steam stores Empyrion Workshop items on your computer. On Windows, the default location is:
- Inside, you will find a folder named after the scenario's Workshop ID (a long number). This is the folder you need.
Step 2: Upload The Scenario To Your Server
Scenarios are often large, so we recommend uploading them over SFTP instead of the panel's file manager. Your login details are on the SFTP Details tab of your panel, and our SFTP guide shows you how to connect.
- Log into your MintServers panel and click the Stop button.
- Connect to your server with your SFTP client.
- Navigate to the
Content/Scenariosfolder. - Upload the scenario folder into it.
- Rename the uploaded folder from its Workshop ID to the scenario's name, for example
MyScenario. Remember the name exactly as written, because you will need it in the next step.
Step 3: Set The Scenario In Your Settings
- Go back to your MintServers panel and open the Game Settings tab.
- Find the Custom Scenario field (it currently says Default Multiplayer) and replace it with the exact name of the folder you uploaded.
- If you are switching to a new scenario, change the Save Name to something new. This starts a fresh save instead of loading your old world.
- Save your changes.
- Go to the Console tab and click Start.
To go back to the normal game later, set Custom Scenario back to Default Multiplayer. For more information on what each option does, see our Server Configuration guide for Empyrion.
Some scenarios recommend playing with Easy Anti-Cheat turned off. Whatever the scenario needs, the EAC setting on your server and your game must match. See our Join Server guide for Empyrion for how to change it in the game.
