Arma Reforger mods come from the official Arma Reforger Workshop, not from Steam. To run mods on your server, you add each mod's ID to your server's config.json. The server downloads the mods when it starts, and players automatically download any mods they are missing when they join.
Step 1: Find the Mod's ID, Name and Version
Every Workshop mod has a 16-character ID made of numbers and the letters A to F. You will need this ID, plus the mod's name and version. There are two ways to find them.
Method A: The Workshop Website
- Go to the Arma Reforger Workshop and open the page of the mod you want.
- Look at the address bar. The mod's ID is the 16-character code right after
/workshop/. For example, inreforger.armaplatform.com/workshop/5D6EBC81EB1842EF-EnfusionPersistenceFrameworkthe ID is5D6EBC81EB1842EF. - Note down the mod's name and version from the page as well.
Method B: The ServerData.json File
- Open Arma Reforger on your computer, go to Workshop, and download the mods you want to add to your server.
- Close the game and open this folder on your computer:
Documents\My Games\ArmaReforger\addons\ - Open the folders until you find the mod you want, then open its
ServerData.jsonfile in a text editor. - Note down the
id,nameandversionvalues at the top of the file.
Step 2: Add the Mods to config.json
- Log into your MintServers panel, go to the Console tab and click the Stop button.
- Navigate to the Files tab on the left-hand sidebar and open
config.json. - Find the line
"mods": [],and replace the whole line with the following:
- Change
modIdto the mod's ID,nameto the mod's name, andversionto the mod's version. The two mods above are only examples, so replace them with your own. - To add more mods, copy and paste the
{ }sections. Make sure every{ }section has a comma after it, except for the last one, and keep the comma after the closing bracket]at the end. - Click the Save Content button at the top right of the file editor.
- Navigate back to the Console tab and click Start.
The server downloads your mods when it starts, so the first start after adding mods can take longer than usual.
Updating Mods
The version setting decides which version of the mod your server uses.
- If you set a specific version, the server stays on that version. When the mod updates, change
versionto the new version number. - If you want the server to always use the newest version, set it to empty quotes:
"version": "".
If a mod still does not update, stop your server, delete that mod's folder from the addons folder in the Files tab, and start the server again so it downloads the mod fresh. This does not always help, but it is worth trying as a last resort.
Things to Keep in Mind
- Some mods need other mods to work. If a mod has dependencies, add those mods to your list as well, above the mod that needs them.
- Not every mod is available on every platform, so console players may be unable to join a server that runs certain mods.
- Some mods add their own scenarios. See our Arma Reforger Change Scenario guide to find out how to use them.
Troubleshooting
Server will not start after adding mods:This is almost always a typo inconfig.json. Check for a missing comma, quote or bracket, and make sure the last mod does not have a comma after it.A mod does not load:Check that the 16-charactermodIdwas copied exactly, as it is case-sensitive.Players cannot join:Make sure they are able to download the mods your server requires. The first join can take a while if there are a lot of mods. See our Arma Reforger Join Server guide.
