Arma Reforger supports crossplay between PC, Xbox and PlayStation 5, but a new server only accepts PC players until you turn crossplay on. This guide shows you how to open your server up to console players and what to watch out for if you run mods.
Enabling Crossplay
- Log into your MintServers panel, go to the Console tab and click the Stop button.
- Navigate to the Files tab on the left-hand sidebar and open
config.json. - Find the
"admins": [],line inside thegamesection. Click at the very end of that line and press Enter to start a new line. - Paste the following two lines on the new line. They are not in the file by default:
Both lines end with a comma, and the platform names are separated by commas, so copy them exactly as shown. Leave everything else in your file as it is.
When you are done, the start of your game section should look like this:
Do not paste this second box into your file. It only shows where the two new lines end up.
- Click the Save Content button at the top right of the file editor.
- Navigate back to the Console tab and click Start.
Platform settings are only read when the server starts, so crossplay will not work until you restart.
Platform Values
Each entry in the supportedPlatforms list uses one of these values:
PLATFORM_PC- PCPLATFORM_XBL- XboxPLATFORM_PSN- PlayStation 5
Always keep PLATFORM_PC in the list, even if most of your players are on console. A server cannot be set up for console players only.
Crossplay and Mods
Xbox and PlayStation 5 both support Workshop mods, but not every mod is available on consoles. If your server runs a mod that a console does not support, players on that console may not be able to join.
- Mod authors choose which platforms their mod supports, so check the mod's Workshop page before adding it to a crossplay server.
- After adding mods, ask a player on each console to try joining before you invite everyone.
- If console players cannot join, remove the mods that do not support consoles from your list. See our Arma Reforger Install Mods guide for how to edit the mod list.
Things to Keep in Mind
- Leave BattlEye turned on, which is the default. Crossplay servers are expected to run with it enabled.
- New servers can take a little longer to show up in the server browser for Xbox and PlayStation players than for PC players.
Turning Crossplay Off
To go back to PC players only, follow the same steps above and either delete the two lines you added, or set crossPlatform to false and supportedPlatforms to just ["PLATFORM_PC"]. Then save and start your server.
Troubleshooting
Console players cannot find the server:Make sure the server has fully started in the Console tab, thatcrossPlatformistrueand you restarted after saving, and that the server is visible (see our Arma Reforger Configure Server guide). Have them search for the exact server name, and give a new server some time to appear.Console players find the server but cannot join:This is most often caused by a mod that is not available on their console. See the Crossplay and Mods section above.Server will not start after editing:The Console will show aJSON parse errorsuch asMissing a comma or ']' after an array element (Line: 10 | Char: 31). The line number tells you where to look inconfig.json, so check that line and the one above it for a missing comma, quote or bracket. Both lines you added must end with a comma, the three platform names must be separated by commas, and the names must be typed exactly as shown, in capital letters.
Players can join your server using our Arma Reforger Join Server guide. If you run into any trouble getting crossplay working, no worries! Just open a support ticket and our team will gladly jump in and get it sorted out together.
