Aloft
Aloft is still in Early Access, and it's not uncommon for a game update to change how the save folder structure works. This can show up in two ways: your character or world seems to have disappeared after an update, or your server generates a brand new world every time it starts up. Both usually come down to the same underlying cause.
Why This Happens
Aloft stores its saves inside a numbered Data folder (for example, Data01 or Data06). When the developers push certain updates, the game can start using a new, different-numbered Data folder instead of the one your existing world lives in. Your server's Save Path setting still points at the old folder, so it looks like your world has vanished, or the server generates a fresh world each time it starts since it can no longer find your original save.
Step 1: Check Your Data Folder
- Log into your MintServers panel and Stop your server.
- Go to the Files tab and navigate to:

📁 users
📁 container
📁 AppData
📁 LocalLow
📁 Astrolabe Interactive
📁 Aloft (you are here)
- Note the number on the
Datafolder (or folders) you see here. If your world previously worked, there may be more than one, for example an olderData01alongside a newerData06.
Step 2: Compare It to Your Save Path
- Go to your server's configuration page in the Game Settings tab.
- Check the
Save Pathfield and note whichDatanumber it currently points to. - Compare it to the folder number(s) you found in Step 1.
Step 3: Fix a Mismatch
If the Save Path is pointing at a different Data folder than the one containing your world, that mismatch is the cause.
- Open the
Datafolder that contains your originalSavesfolder and world files. - Update the
Save Pathfield to point to that folder instead. - Save your changes and start your server.
🛠️ Troubleshooting
A new world still generates after fixing Save Path:Double-check theMap Namefield also still matches your original world's folder name.Only one Data folder exists and it's empty:Your save may not be recoverable if the update itself altered the save format. Check the game's Steam update notes for details on that specific update.Not sure which Data folder is the right one:The correct folder is the one containing aSavessubfolder with yourw_world folder inside it.
Since Aloft is still in Early Access, save-breaking changes like this can happen with future updates too, so it's worth keeping an eye on the game's patch notes.
