The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria
Mods can add quality-of-life changes, new gameplay options, and much more to your Return to Moria server. Installing them is a matter of uploading the mod files to the right folder on your server. This guide walks you through it.
⚠️ Important Warning:
Always stop your server on the MintServers panel before uploading or removing mod files.
Step 1: Download Your Mods
- Find the mods you want. Nexus Mods is a popular place to look.
- Download each mod and extract it if it comes in a zip file.
- Keep all of the files that come with the mod. Mods are not always a single
.pakfile. Many also include.ucasand.utocfiles, and you need to upload all of them.
Step 2: Upload The Mods To Your Server
- Log into your MintServers panel, select your Return to Moria server, and click Stop.
- Open the Files tab in the left-hand sidebar.
- Navigate to
Moria, thenContent, thenPaks. - Look for a folder named
~mods. If it does not exist, create a new folder with that exact name, including the tilde at the start. - Open the
~modsfolder and upload all of your mod files.

💡 Large Mods
If your mod files are large, the browser uploader can time out. For files over 100MB, upload using SFTP instead. See How to Connect via SFTP with FileZilla or WinSCP.

- Go back to the Console tab and click Start.
- Join your server in-game to confirm the mods have loaded.
Mods and Your Players
Everyone who joins a modded server should have the same mods installed on their own game. If a friend has trouble connecting, ask them to check their mods against the ones on your server. For help joining, see Join Server.
Removing a Mod
- Stop your server.
- Open the
~modsfolder using the steps above. - Delete every file that belongs to the mod, including the
.pak,.ucasand.utocfiles. - Start your server.
🛠️ Troubleshooting Mod Issues
Server will not start after adding a mod:Stop the server and remove the last mod you added, then start it again. Add mods one at a time so you can spot which one causes the problem.Mod is not doing anything:Confirm that every file for the mod was uploaded and that the files are inside the~modsfolder, not directly inPaks.Cannot join the server:Make sure your game has the same mods as the server.Mod stopped working after a game update:Mods can break when the game updates. Check the mod's download page for a newer version.
