How to Make Someone an Operator in a Minecraft Server

There are two main methods to make someone an operator (OP) on your Minecraft server: using the server console or using in-game commands. Let us walk through both options so you can get your staff team set up.

Method 1: Console Method (Recommended)

This is the most reliable way to grant OP status, especially if no one is currently an operator in the game.

1. Access your MintServers control panel and navigate to the Console tab on the left sidebar.
2. Ensure your server is online and fully booted up.
3. Type the following command into the console text box, replacing with the player's exact username:

4. Press Enter. The console will confirm that the player has been made a server operator.

If you or another player already has operator status, you can easily grant it to others while playing on the server.
