How to Upload a Save to Your Abiotic Factor Server

Already have a single-player or locally hosted Abiotic Factor world you don't want to lose? You can upload it directly to your dedicated server and keep playing right where you left off, with all your progress intact.

💡 Steam Saves Only: This method only works for saves created on Steam. Saves from PlayStation, Xbox, or Windows Game Pass cannot be transferred to a dedicated server.
⚠️ Important Warning: Uploading a world will overwrite whatever world is currently active on your server. If you want to keep your server's existing world too, back it up first!

Step 1: Locate Your Local World Save

  1. Press Windows + R to open the Run menu.
  2. Enter the following path and press OK: %LocalAppData%\AbioticFactor\Saved\SaveGames
  3. Open the folder labeled with your Steam64 ID.
  4. Open the Worlds subfolder inside it.
  5. Find the folder for the world you want to upload, and create a .zip of that entire folder.

Step 2: Prepare Your Server

  1. Log into your MintServers panel and click the Stop button to safely shut down your server.
  2. Navigate to the Files tab on the left-hand sidebar.
  3. Browse to the following path:
📁 AbioticFactor
📁 Saved
📁 SaveGames
📁 Server
📁 Worlds (you are here)
📁 Cascade (the server's default world folder)
💡 Pro Tip: If the Worlds folder doesn't exist yet, start your server once and then stop it again. This lets the server generate its default folder structure, including the Cascade world folder.

Step 3: Upload Your World

  1. Inside the Worlds folder, rename or delete the existing Cascade folder to back it up, if you want to keep it.
  2. Upload the .zip file of your local world into the Worlds folder.
  3. Extract (unzip) it directly into the Worlds folder.
  4. Rename the extracted folder to Cascade, replacing the server's default world folder. Your server will load whichever world folder is named Cascade by default.
📝 Uploading Multiple or Large Files? The browser-based Files tab works fine for most saves, but for large files or folders with many pieces, an SFTP client like FileZilla or WinSCP is faster and more reliable. See our guide to connecting via SFTP to get set up.

Step 4: Start Your Server

Navigate back to the Console tab and click Start. Your uploaded world will load, complete with all of your progress and customizations.

🛠️ Troubleshooting Common Upload Issues

  • Server loads an empty or fresh world: Double-check that your uploaded world folder is named exactly Cascade and sits directly inside the Worlds folder, not nested inside another folder.
  • Can't find your Steam64 ID folder locally: The AppData folder is hidden by default. Make sure you pasted the exact path into the Run dialog rather than browsing manually.
  • Upload seems incomplete: Large worlds can take a while to upload and extract. Give it a few minutes before troubleshooting further.
  • Progress missing after starting the server: Make sure you zipped and uploaded the correct world folder from the Worlds subfolder, not the top-level SteamID64 folder.

And that's it, your world is now live on your server with all of your progress intact! If you run into any trouble getting your save transferred over, no worries! Just open a support ticket and our team will gladly help you get it sorted out.
