Before anyone can play on your StarRupture server, it needs a world to load. This guide shows you how to create a brand-new world, or load an existing save you already have. Both are controlled by a few settings in the Startup tab of your MintServers panel.
Creating a New World
[SERVER] Start new Savegame for the initial world creation, and disable it again immediately afterwards! If it is left on true, the server will create a brand-new world when it starts instead of loading your existing one.
- Log into your MintServers panel and Stop your server.
- Go to the Startup tab in the panel.
- Set
[SERVER] Load saved Gametofalse. - Set
[SERVER] Start new Savegametotrue. - Start the server and wait for it to finish loading. Then:
- Join your server using its IP address and port. If you have set a Player password, enter it as well. Need help? See our StarRupture Join Server guide.
- Press
ESCto open the menu, then select Save. This tells the server to save your world to theStarRupture/Saved/SaveGamesfolder, inside a folder named after your[SERVER] Session Namesetting. - Disconnect from the server.
- Stop the server.
- Set
[SERVER] Load saved Gameback totrue. - Set
[SERVER] Start new Savegameback tofalse. - Start the server. Your world will now load automatically every time the server starts.
Once your world has been saved, it lives in your server's save folder. If your Session Name is StarRuptureServer, it looks like this:
📁 Root directory (the first folder you see in the Files tab)
📁 StarRupture
📁 Saved
📁 SaveGames
Loading an Existing Save
Use this if you already have a StarRupture save that you want your server to run. A save is made up of a .sav file and a matching .met file. Both need to be inside a folder in StarRupture/Saved/SaveGames that is named after your Session Name:
📁 Root directory (the first folder you see in the Files tab)
📁 StarRupture
📁 Saved
📁 SaveGames
📁 StarRuptureServer (your Session Name)
📄 AutoSave0.met (its matching .met file)
- Log into your MintServers panel and Stop your server.
- Go to the Startup tab in the panel.
- Set
[SERVER] Load saved Gametotrue. - Set
[SERVER] Start new Savegametofalse. - Set
[SERVER] Savegame Nameto match your save file (for example,AutoSave0.sav). - Set
[SERVER] Session Nameto match your session folder name (for example,StarRuptureServer). - Start the server.
SaveGames. Changing [SERVER] Session Name points your server at a different folder, so it will not load the world from your old one. Download a copy of your save folder from the Files tab before you make big changes.
