Minecraft Bedrock
The Player Locator Bar shows where your friends are, with distance and height markers, right where your XP bar sits. Here is how to turn it on or off.
Java Edition
ℹ️ Note:
The locator bar is on by default in Java Edition 1.21.6 and newer.
Join your server and type one of these in chat. You need to be an operator (OP).
Press Enter. It changes right away for everyone!
💡 Pro Tip:
On Minecraft 1.21.11 and newer, gamerules were renamed, so use
locator_bar instead. See our gamerules guide for details.
Bedrock Edition
On Bedrock, it is a world setting instead of a command.
- Before starting your world, open its
World Settings. - Scroll down to
Multiplayer Options. - Switch
Locator Baron or off. - Start your world and you are all set!
