How to Become Admin on Your Space Engineers Server

Running a busy server is always easier with a little help! Admins on a Space Engineers server can open the in-game Admin Screen to manage players and objects in your world. Adding yourself and your trusted friends only takes one quick edit to your server's configuration file.

Step 1: Find The Steam64 IDs

Before editing the server files, you will need the Steam64 ID of each player you want to make an admin. This is a long number unique to their Steam account.

Step 2: Open The Configuration File

1. Log into your MintServers panel and click the Stop button.
2. Navigate to the Files tab in the left-hand sidebar.
3. Open the config folder:

4. Click on the SpaceEngineers-Dedicated.cfg file to open the text editor.

Step 3: Add Your Admins

1. Scroll down until you find the section. If it shows as with nothing inside, replace that line with the block below.
2. Add one line for every admin, with their Steam64 ID in the middle. It should look exactly like this example:

  76561198000000001
  76561198000000002

3. Click the Save Content button at the top right of the file editor.
4. Navigate back to the Console tab and click Start.

Using The Admin Screen

1. Join your server. If you need help, see How to Join Your Space Engineers Server.
2. Press Alt + F10 to open the Admin Screen.

To remove an admin later, stop the server, delete that player's line, save the file and start the server again.

Troubleshooting

• Alt + F10 does nothing: Make sure the Steam64 ID belongs to the Steam account you are playing on, that it was saved without typos or spaces, and that you fully restarted the server after saving. Then leave and rejoin the server.
• Server will not start after editing: This is usually a small typo. Every needs its matching , and the whole list has to be closed with .
• My changes keep disappearing: You most likely edited the file while the server was running. Stop the server completely, make the edit again, save and then start the server.
