How to Upload an Existing Save to Your Aska Server

Built a thriving village in single-player, or been hosting Aska from your own PC? You can move that world to your MintServers server and keep all of your tribe's progress, so everyone can jump back in at any time, even when you are offline.

In short: find your save folder, upload it to your server, and tell the server which save to load.

⚠️ Important Warning: Always make a backup copy of your save folder on your PC before moving or uploading it. Also make sure your server is completely stopped on your MintServers panel before uploading or editing any files!

Step 1: Find Your Local Save

  1. Press the Windows Key + R on your keyboard to open the Run window.
  2. Copy and paste this path, then press Enter:
    📋 Windows Run path
    %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Sand Sailor Studio\Aska\data
  3. Find the folder of the save you want to upload. Every save is a folder named savegame_ followed by its ID, for example savegame_84b08_241225160355.
📁 data (the folder you just opened)
    📄 savegame_84b08_241225160355 (Upload me!)
  4. Write down everything after savegame_. This is your Save ID, for example 84b08_241225160355. You will need it in Step 3.
💡 Pro Tip: Not sure which save is which? Open the meta file inside a save folder with a text editor to see the name of the world.

Step 2: Upload The Save To Your Server

  1. Log into your MintServers panel and click the Stop button to safely shut down your server.
  2. Navigate to the Files tab on the left-hand sidebar.
  3. Browse to the server folder using the path below:
    📁 .wine
    📁 drive_c
    📁 users
    📁 container
    📁 AppData
    📁 LocalLow
    📁 Sand Sailor Studio
    📁 Aska
    📁 data
    📁 server (you are here)
📄 savegame_84b08_241225160355 (Upload your save folder here)
  4. Upload your entire savegame_ folder into the server folder. Keep the folder name exactly the same. If the file manager does not accept folders, create a folder with the exact same name first and upload the files from inside your save folder into it.
📝 Uploading Multiple Or Large Files?
The browser-based Files tab works fine for most saves, but for large folders with many pieces, an SFTP client like FileZilla or WinSCP is faster and more reliable, and lets you drag your whole save folder across at once. See our guide to connecting via SFTP to get set up.

Step 3: Tell The Server Which Save To Load

Finally, set your Save ID so the server loads your world instead of creating a new one.

  1. In the Files tab, open server properties.txt.
  2. Find the save id line and set it to the Save ID you wrote down in Step 1:
    📄 server properties.txt
    save id = 84b08_241225160355
  3. Click the Save Content button at the top right of the file editor.
  4. Navigate back to the Console tab and click Start. Your server will now boot up with your existing world!
📝 Your World Keeps Its Own Name
An uploaded save keeps the world name it was created with. Your server is listed under that name in the server list instead of the display name in server properties.txt.

🛠️ Troubleshooting Save Upload Issues

  • Server started a brand new world: Check that save id matches everything after savegame_ in your folder name exactly, including the underscore and numbers. Also make sure the folder was uploaded into the server folder, and that you kept its name unchanged.
  • Save won't load: Make sure every file from your save folder was uploaded. If the upload was interrupted or is very large, upload it again using SFTP. Also make sure your game and the server are on the same version of Aska.
  • Can't tell which save is mine: Open the meta file inside each save folder with a text editor to see the world names.
  • Wrong name in the server list: This is normal. Uploaded saves keep their own world name, see the note above.

Your tribe is back in business! See our Join Server guide if you need help connecting. If your world will not load, no worries! Just open a support ticket and our team will gladly jump in and get your save online.
