How to Upload a Save to Your Aloft Server

Want to move a world you started on your own PC onto your MintServers Aloft server? You can upload your local save folder directly through the panel's file manager. This guide covers finding your save on your PC and getting it onto your server correctly.

⚠️ Important Warning: Always stop your server on the MintServers panel before uploading a save. Uploading while the server is running can corrupt the world or cause the upload to be overwritten.

Step 1: Find Your Local Save

On your PC, Aloft stores its saves inside your AppData folder. Each world is a separate folder starting with w_ (for example, w_MyWorld).

📁 AppData
📁 LocalLow
📁 Astrolabe Interactive
📁 Aloft
📁 Data01 (this number can vary)
📁 Saves (contains your w_ world folders)
📝 Note: You can paste %AppData%\..\LocalLow\Astrolabe Interactive\Aloft\ into the File Explorer address bar to jump straight there.

Step 2: Locate the Save Directory on Your Server

  1. Log into your MintServers panel and Stop your server from the Console tab.
  2. Go to the Files tab in the left sidebar.
  3. Navigate to your server's save directory:
📁 .wine
📁 drive_c
📁 users
📁 container
📁 AppData
📁 LocalLow
📁 Astrolabe Interactive
📁 Aloft
📁 DataXX (the number may differ on your server — check for a folder here if you don't see Saves right away)
📁 Saves (upload your world folder here)

Step 3: Upload Your Save

  1. Inside the Saves folder, upload your w_ world folder from Step 1.
  2. Wait for the upload to fully finish before continuing, especially for larger worlds.
📝 Uploading Multiple or Large Files? The browser-based Files tab works fine for most saves, but for large files or folders with many pieces, an SFTP client like FileZilla or WinSCP is faster and more reliable. See our guide to connecting via SFTP to get set up.

Step 4: Set the Map Name

Your server needs to know which world to load. Go to your server's configuration page on the panel and set Map Name to match your uploaded world folder's name exactly, without the w_ prefix.

💡 Pro Tip: For a full breakdown of every field on the configuration page, including Map Name, check out our Aloft server settings guide.
  1. Save your changes and Start your server from the Console tab.

🛠️ Troubleshooting

  • Server starts a new world instead of loading yours: Double-check that Map Name matches your uploaded folder name exactly, including capitalization.
  • Can't find the Data folder: The folder number can vary between servers. Browse into the Aloft folder and use whichever Data folder is present.
  • Upload seems stuck or incomplete: Large worlds can take a while depending on your connection. Avoid navigating away from the Files tab until the upload finishes.

Your world should now be live on your server, ready for you and your friends to jump back in. If your save isn't loading correctly after following these steps, no worries! Just open a support ticket and our team will take a look.
