Aska
Aska supports mods through BepInEx, a plugin loader, and the community shares them on Thunderstore. Mods can add things like bigger building storage, automatic fire lighting and other quality-of-life changes to your village.
The best part is that BepInEx comes preinstalled on your MintServers Aska server, so all you need to do is upload the mods you want.
Some mods only need to be installed on the server, some only on your own computer, and some on both. Always read the mod's description on Thunderstore to find out which applies.
Step 1: Download A Mod From Thunderstore
- Browse the mods on the Aska community on Thunderstore.
- Open the mod you want and read its description. If it lists other mods as dependencies, download those as well.
- Click the Manual Download button and save the
.zipfile to your computer. - Extract the
.zipfile into an empty folder. - Open the extracted folder and browse to
BepInEx>plugins, then open the folder named after the mod. The.dllfiles inside are the files you will upload to your server. If the mod page gives different instructions, follow those instead.
Step 2: Upload The Mod To Your Server
- Log into your MintServers panel and click the Stop button to safely shut down your server.
- Navigate to the Files tab on the left-hand sidebar.
- Open the
BepInExfolder, then thepluginsfolder.📁 Files (your server's root directory)
📁 BepInEx
📁 plugins
📄 YourMod.dll (Upload your mod files here)📁 config (mod settings are created here after the first start)
- Upload the
.dllfiles from Step 1 into thepluginsfolder. - Navigate back to the Console tab and click Start.
Step 3: Edit Mod Settings (Optional)
Many mods come with settings of their own. To edit them, start your server once with the mod installed so it can create its config file, then stop the server again.
- In the Files tab, open the
BepInExfolder, then theconfigfolder. - Open the config file that belongs to your mod, change the values you want and click Save Content.
- Navigate back to the Console tab and click Start.
Installing Mods On Your Own Computer
If a mod's description says players need it too, each player installs it on their own computer with the Thunderstore Mod Manager.
- Download the Mod Manager from the Aska community on Thunderstore and install it. r2modman works as well.
- Open the Mod Manager, search for
Askaand click Select game. - Open the Get mods tab and download the pinned
BepInExmod. - Download the mods you want to use.
- Click Start Modded to launch Aska with your mods.
🛠️ Troubleshooting Common Mod Issues
Mod not loading:Make sure the.dllfiles are insideBepInEx/plugins, that you installed any dependencies the mod lists, and that the mod supports the current version of Aska. Mods can stop working after a game update until their developer releases a fix.Server won't start after adding a mod:Stop the server, openBepInEx/pluginsin the Files tab and delete the files of the mod you added last, then Start the server again. Check the mod's page for updates or extra requirements before trying it again.Can't find the mod's config file:Start the server once with the mod installed. The file is created on the first start.Players can't join:Check the mod's description to see whether players need the mod on their own computers too, and make sure everyone is using the same version of it.A mod behaves strangely:If a specific mod is not working correctly, we recommend first reaching out to its developer through the mod's Thunderstore page.
