Already have a Necesse world going, whether from singleplayer or another server, and want to keep playing on it with friends? You can bring your existing save over instead of starting fresh. This guide walks you through finding your local world file and getting it running on your MintServers server.
⚠️ Important Warning:
If a world with the same name already exists on your server, uploading will overwrite it. Back up your current world first if you want to keep it.
Step 1: Find Your Local World Save
- Press
Windows + Rto open the Run dialog. - Type
%AppData%\Necesse\saves\worldsand press Enter. - Find the
.zipfile matching your world's name. This is the file you'll upload.
Step 2: Upload It To Your Server
- Log into your MintServers panel and Stop your server.
- Open the Files tab and navigate to the
saves/worldsfolder. - Upload your world's
.zipfile directly into that folder, no need to extract it first.
📝 Uploading Multiple or Large Files?
The browser-based Files tab works fine for most saves, but for large files or folders with many pieces, an SFTP client like FileZilla or WinSCP is faster and more reliable. See our guide to connecting via SFTP to get set up.

Step 3: Point Your Server At the New World
- Find the World Name setting on your MintServers panel.
- Set it to your uploaded world's name, exactly as it appears, but without the
.zipextension. - Save your changes and Start your server.
💡 Pro Tip:
World names are case-sensitive. Copy the name straight from the uploaded file rather than retyping it, to avoid a mismatch.
🛠️ Troubleshooting
Server generates a new world instead of loading yours:Double-check the World Name setting matches your uploaded file's name exactly, with no extra spaces or the.zipextension left on.World won't load at all:Check that the world folder isn't nested inside an extra layer, for exampleworlds/MyWorld/MyWorld/instead of justworlds/MyWorld/. If your upload extracted into a double folder, move the inner contents up one level.Progress from the old world is gone:If a world with the same name already existed on the server, it was overwritten on upload. Check your Backups tab for a recent snapshot to restore.
Once your server starts back up, you and your friends should load straight into your existing world, settlements and all. If your save still isn't showing up correctly, no worries! Just open a support ticket and our team will gladly take a look.
