How to Install Mods on Your Eco Server

Eco supports mods that add new items, tweak gameplay balance, and more, all sourced from mod.io, the official host for Eco mods. Installing one only takes a few minutes once you know where the files need to go.

📌 Note: Most Eco mods only need to be installed on the server. When a player connects, their client automatically downloads whatever the mod needs, so the first connection after installing a new mod may just take a bit longer than usual.

Step 1: Find And Download A Mod

  1. Visit eco.mod.io and find a mod you'd like to install.
  2. Open the mod's page and scroll down to the Releases section.
  3. Click the file name to download it. Most mods are packaged as a .zip file.
  4. Check the mod's page for the Eco version it was built for, and read any install instructions the author included, some mods need to go in a specific subfolder.

Step 2: Upload The Mod To Your Server

⚠️ Important Warning: Always make sure your server is completely stopped on your MintServers panel before uploading mods.
  1. Log into your MintServers panel and Stop your server.
  2. Navigate to the Files tab and open the Mods folder.
  3. Upload the .zip file you downloaded directly into the Mods folder.
  4. Select the uploaded file and click Unzip (or Extract) in the file manager. This creates the mod's own folder inside Mods.
  5. If the mod's instructions called for a specific subfolder, such as UserCode inside Mods, move the extracted files there instead.
💡 Pro Tip: You don't need to touch any of the folders already inside Mods. Unzipping a new mod just adds its own folder alongside the existing ones without overwriting them.

Step 3: Start Your Server

  1. Navigate back to the Console tab and click Start.
  2. Watch the console for any errors while the server boots up.

Once your server is back online, the mod is active. Players don't need to install anything themselves, their client picks up the mod automatically the next time they connect.

🛠️ Troubleshooting Common Mod Issues

  • Server crashes on startup: The mod likely isn't compatible with your server's Eco version. Check the mod's page for its supported version and remove it if it doesn't match.
  • Mod doesn't seem to be working: Make sure the .zip file was actually extracted. A mod left zipped inside the Mods folder won't be loaded.
  • Files ended up nested too deep: Some .zip files contain an extra folder layer. If the mod isn't loading, check that its files sit directly inside Mods (or the subfolder the author specified) and not buried an extra level down.
  • Players getting stuck on download: Re-upload the mod file, it's likely a corrupted or incomplete upload.
