Mods let you customize your StarRupture server with things like larger stack sizes, faster gathering, or increased power generation. On MintServers, mods are installed by uploading them to your server's Paks folder. This guide shows you how.
Installing a Mod
You can find mods for StarRupture on Nexus Mods, among other places. Each mod has its own page with a description, so read it before you install.
- Download the mod you want from its page.
- Log into your MintServers panel and Stop your server.
- Open the Files tab in the left-hand sidebar.
- Open the
StarRupturefolder, thenContent, thenPaks:📁 Root directory (the first folder you see in the Files tab)
📁 StarRupture
📁 Content
📁 Paks (upload your mods here)
- Upload your mod file(s) into the
Paksfolder. - If the mod came as a
.zipfile, it must be extracted before the server can load it. Right-click the uploaded.zipin the file manager and choose Unarchive. - Start your server.
Paks (for example a folder named Mods). If the mod's own page gives different instructions from this guide, follow the mod's page.
Do Players Need the Mods Too?
Many mods only need to be installed on the server, but some also need to be installed on each player's PC. The mod's page on Nexus Mods will tell you which applies. If a mod needs to be on the client as well, make sure your players install the same version that is on your server.
Players can also install their own mods on their PC and still connect to your server. To keep your server under your control, protect it with a password. See our StarRupture Set a Password guide.
Removing a Mod
- Stop your server.
- Open the
StarRupture/Content/Paksfolder in the Files tab. - Delete the files that belong to the mod.
- Start your server.
Paks folder also contains files the game needs to run, so do not delete or change those.
🛠️ Troubleshooting Mod Issues
The mod does not seem to be working:Make sure the mod was extracted (not left as a.zip), that it is in theStarRupture/Content/Paksfolder, and that you restarted the server after uploading it.The server will not start after adding a mod:The mod may be out of date for the current version of the game. Stop the server, remove that mod's files, and check the mod's page on Nexus Mods for an updated version.Several mods are not working together:Remove all mods, then add them back one at a time, starting the server after each one, to find the mod causing the problem. The upload keeps failing:Large files can fail to upload through the panel. Use SFTP for anything over 100MB, as described above.
Once your mods are uploaded and your server starts cleanly, you are ready to enjoy your customized StarRupture experience. If a mod still will not load, no worries! Just open a support ticket and our team will take a look.
