Started an amazing adventure in singleplayer and want to bring your friends along? You can easily upload your existing Hytale saves to your MintServers host!
You have two options depending on what you want to achieve:
Transfers everything - all worlds, player inventories, levels, and settings exactly as they are on your PC.
Adds just one specific map to your current server without overwriting other worlds or existing player data.
Understanding Hytale Universe Structure
Hytale uses a universe folder to hold everything. Inside that, you have specific directories for worlds and players.
📁 universe (main universe directory)
📁 players (Inventories & Player Stats)
📁 worlds
📁 MyWorld (A custom world)
Option 1: Upload the Whole Universe (Full Migration)
Use this method if you want your server to be an exact copy of your singleplayer save. This is the easiest method as it automatically transfers your inventory and player stats.
This method will replace the current universe on your server. If you have existing server data you want to keep, make a backup first!
Step 1: Zip Your Local Universe
Windows Key + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog.Step 2: Upload to MintServers
universe folder on your server and rename it to universe_old (or delete it if you are sure you no longer need it).universe.
Option 2: Upload a Single World
Use this method if you just want to add a map file to your server without deleting your existing server data.
Step 1: Locate Your World Folder
Step 2: Upload to MintServers
The browser-based Files tab works fine for most saves, but for large files or folders with many pieces, an SFTP client like FileZilla or WinSCP is faster and more reliable. See our guide to connecting via SFTP to get set up.
Step 3: Load the World
Uploading the files isn't enough; you have to tell the server to load this specific world.
How to Keep Your Inventory (For Option 2 Only)
Note: If you used Option 1 (Whole Universe), your inventory is already uploaded. You can ignore this section.
If you used Option 2, uploading the world only transfers the terrain. Your character's inventory is stored separately.
Player data is tied to the specific Universe ID. Mixing player data from different universes may cause data loss or character resets. Proceed with caution!
🛠️ Troubleshooting World Uploads
I uploaded the world but cannot travel to it
Make sure you ran the world load command in the console. You can type world list in the console to see active worlds, then use /tp world [worldname] in-game to go there.
My world name has spaces in it
If your folder name is "My New World", the console commands might fail. We strongly recommend renaming the folder to use underscores (e.g., My_New_World) before you zip and upload it!
